Medical English 3: Essential Medical Vocabulary is the final course in the Medical English program at Glenn College. This course will give students a detailed look at various parts of the body, including the outer and inner body. Students will also study nutrition and diet in regards to maintaining a healthy body. Additionally, this course will touch on common medical conditions and phrases, essential medical equipment, and the different departments of a hospital along with their roles.
This course is broken into four modules with each module having two lessons.
Each course has a quiz after each module, a cumulative midterm, and a final test. The final test is cumulative test of modules three and four.
Upon successful completion of Medical English 3, students will be able to:
Identify a variety of vocabulary used to describe the head, the upper and lower body, and health conditions that affect these regions of the outer body
Describe a wide variety of organs, organ systems, and their functions within the human body
Recognize a wide array of vitamins and minerals and how they are associated with nutrition
Employ various expressions when giving patients advice related to nutrition and lifestyle
Demonstrate appropriate usage of common medical phrases in regards to diagnosis, testing and treatment
Identify commonly used and important medical equipment and for what purposes and scenarios they are used
Recognize the different departments of a hospital and what roles certain wards and health care professionals occupy
